MND Relay 2025

Team Glampa at the Great MND Relay – Our Personal Experience

On the 8th of February, we gathered at Albert Park Lakeside Stadium as part of Team Glampa, ready to take on the Great MND Relay and show our unwavering support for Finn and Glampa, Shane Lewis.

The team consisted of Finn (of course) and Glampa (Shane Lewis), along with a fantastic group of supporters: Marlene, Nicole, Chris, Amee, Harper, Colleen, Saxon, Ryder, Grace, Jason, Christen, Georgia, Austin, Kerrie, Andrew, Harvey, Darcie, Emma & Matt.

We made sure Team Glampa stood out in the best way possible! Shane rocked an impressive blue mohawk – confusing to some, as it’s the most hair we’ve ever seen him have! Georgia, Grace, and Darcie embraced the fun with face painting, while other team members wore crazy hats and blue tutus. Everyone donned their Team Glampa t-shirts, proudly made by Colleen (Sublime Decals – https://www.facebook.com/subdecals), with the backs featuring our deep connection to Finn and this cause.

It was an incredible day, filled with energy, love, and determination. Together, Team Glampa completed an impressive 371 laps and ended up as the 6th highest fundraising team!

Why This Fundraiser Matters

The Great MND Relay isn’t just about running laps – it’s about raising funds and awareness for those battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND), their families, and the urgent need for better support.

MND is a cruel disease that robs people of their ability to move, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe – all while their mind remains sharp. There is currently no cure, and government funding for care services remains severely lacking—especially for those over 65. The My Aged Care system is simply inadequate to meet the complex needs of people with MND, a disease that has nothing to do with ageing. Unlike younger individuals who can access the NDIS, those over 65 are forced into an aged care system that is not equipped to provide the intensive support, equipment, and specialist care required. This creates a devastating gap, leaving many families struggling to navigate a system that was never designed for a terminal, progressive neurological disease like MND.

Until there’s a cure, there’s care.

Fundraisers like the Great MND Relay are essential to ensuring that people with MND and their families receive the specialist support, equipment, and services they need. It’s also about advocacy – pushing for better government funding, faster access to NDIS and My Aged Care services, and ensuring no family faces this battle alone.
